Salt & Light

Matthew 5:13-16

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost its savour, then how will it be salted? It is therefore good for nothing, but to be cast out, and trodden under the foot of men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Salt is a preserving agent and it adds flavor. We are told here that as believers, we are the salt of the earth. We are to share the gospel and bring life to a lost and dying world. We are to be a light to the world, allowing the love of Jesus to shine in and through us to others. Like the city set on the hill, there should be no doubt that we are followers of Christ. As people see us, may they see the work that Jesus has done in us and be drawn to Him. How will  your light shine today? How will you add flavor to those around you?
